Stop the Summer Slide

Summer and slides are supposed to be fun, however, we don't want this for our children when it comes to reading.

Did you know that reading 4-5 books in a summer will STOP this slide? Yes, that's right! Reading only 4-5 books in a summer can prevent a decline in a child's back-to-school reading scores. Keep our children reading all summer.

  • Commit to having your child read 4-5 books this summer.
  • Record your child's reading on the reading log provided.
  • Return the log to school the first week we return in August.

Your child will be rewarded with:

  • Enriched reading skills
  • Brave Bucks from Dr. Rich
  • Water activities and slushie Party

We will open the media center two days this summer. Students can come with an adult to check out books, participate in a fun "summertime" activity and hear a book read to them. We will give them a draw string bag to keep their books in.
