I graduated from the University of South Florida in 1976.  After teaching for several years, I earned a master's degree in early childhood from Mercer University in Atlanta in 1990.  In 1993, I earned an Ed.S degree from West Georgia College.  While teaching at West Side, I pursued a doctorate of education in curriculum and instruction.  I received that degree in 2000.

I began teaching first grade in 1976 in Whitfield County, GA.  After five years of teaching first grade in Hillsborough County, Fl., we moved to Atlanta, GA., where I taught Kindergarten for three years.  In 1990, my family relocated to Cleveland, TN.  That same year, I began teaching Horizon at West Side.  I am beginning my 25th year in the Horizon program.

I am married to Dr. John Vining, a minister and family counselor.  He directs the Center for Relational Health and supervises counseling interns from three colleges and universities in Cleveland, TN.  We have been married for 37 years.  We are parents to three beautiful daughters, Meredith, Melani, and Megan and in-laws to Jonathan.  Most importantly, we have been blessed with three adorable grandchildren.  My husband and I conduct marriage and parenting seminars on the weekends at a variety of churches and community settings.  I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, and a variety of crafts.  I love to write and have had several articles published in magazines and journals. My family members are all avid Florida Gator fans.  That makes for an interesting fall in Georgia and Tennessee.
